What are the different stages of the Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasite?

There are four stages of the Plasmodium falciparum malaria parasite.

1. Ring

2. Trophozoite

3. Schizont

4. Gametocyte

1. Ring Form:- Ring form of p.faliciparum consists of 2 or more rings with a small chromatin dot.
2. Trophozoite stage:- Trophozoites are compact, vacuolated and sometimes having two chromatin dots
3. Schizonts:- Schizont stage of plasmodium falciparum consist of 18–24 merozoites filling 2/3 of the cell
4. Gametocytes:- Gametocyte stage of plasmodium falciparum is Crescent and banana-shaped, with diffuse chromatin and single nucleus.

Note:- The size of infected red blood cells remains unchanged as before normal size.
